TAIPEI—The International Trade Commission said Apple Inc. didn't violate HTC Corp.'s patents for technology used in its mobile devices, a setback in the Taiwanese company's patent fight with the iPhone maker.

But analysts said coming rulings were likely more important in determining whether HTC could face an injunction against certain imports into the U.S. market.

The ITC issued its "initial determination" on Monday, saying that Cupertino, California-based Apple's devices didn't violate four of HTC's patents, which cover technology for looking up and quickly dialing phone numbers and different techniques for managing power consumption on portable electronic devices.

HTC shares fell 4.6% to 708.00 New Taiwan dollars (US$23.50), while Apple shares recently traded down 1.2% at $416.89.

HTC said it is waiting to get a full copy of the ruling before it decides how to proceed, but experts say HTC could ask the ITC to review its decision.

"This is only one step of many in these legal proceedings," HTC General Counsel Grace Lei said in a statement. "We are confident we have a strong case for the ITC appeals process and are fully prepared to protect our intellectual property."

Apple didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

With sales of smartphones booming, and growth expected to continue, litigiousness among large technology markers has grown to a fever pitch.

The ruling represents another victory for Apple in its ongoing patent disputes with many of its rivals around the world, but analysts say Monday's decision is more of a prelude to more important rulings that will come in November and December.

On Nov. 13, the ITC is expected to decide on a preliminary ruling that Apple violated two patents owned by S3 Graphics, a company HTC is in the process of acquiring. And on December 6, the ITC will issue a final ruling on a case where it preliminarily ruled HTC had violated two Apple patents.

Analysts say Apple is hoping to block HTC smartphones, the most widely used Android devices in the U.S., from the market, while HTC is hoping to gain enough leverage in countersuits to settle for a cross-licensing agreement.

Samsung Securities analyst Birdy Lu said a cross-licensing agreement seems for now the most likely outcome and added a recent suit filed by HTC using patents it obtained from Google to pose a stronger threat against Apple. A decision on that case is likely to be at least a year away.

Nearly all mobile-device makers are actively suing or defending themselves in legal battles against one another. Apple, in particular, has locked horns with a variety of companies including Samsung Electronics Co. and Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc., which is being acquired by Google Inc.

HP HTC Titan WP 7 Mango Price Newest

Return releasing HTC smartphones that target upper-class users, the HTC Titan that runs on Windows operating systems Phone 7 (WP 7) Mango. HTC Titan estimated prices at the level of Rp 5 million.

When we talk about functional design, it is seen that the design of the Titan is not better than other smartphones that run on the Windows platform. Design curves are on the back of the phone is not so impressive when compared to the iPhone or other Android phones are almost using similar designs. Even on the other hand, the design of the HTC Titan looks a bit old fashioned. (Like candy Kino dung ... "since there is Kino, others so ancient, hehehe)

HTC Incredible S

Incredible by name and only slightly less so by nature, this phone is HTC's entry into the underpopulated 4-inch touchscreen arena. In fact, it's among the first UK handsets to fill that niche, but more are on the horizon.
It's blessed with HTC's slick Sense UI and a high-quality screen, but is this latest mobile phone's foibles enough to warrant waiting for its incoming competitors, or the HTC Desire S?

HTC Sensation

The HTC Sensation is meant to be the new alpha smartphone from the Taiwanese firm, and it certainly lives up to expectations.
With a 1.2GHz dual core processor from Qualcomm and a whopping 4.3-inch high-res qHD screen, this is the phone with best specs yet from HTC, plus it's the first smartphone with the new HTC Watch movie download service.
Is it better than the Samsung Galaxy S2? We think it's just a shade behind thanks to a slightly larger chassis and less advanced screen technology, but that's going to be a debate that rumbles on and on.

HTC Desire S

Though the HTC Desire's technology is now being surpassed, it's aged beautifully thanks to some timely price drops. However, all things must come to an end (or at least be supplanted by something new). The HTC Desire S has arrived to take over from its predecessor in the Android race.
In many ways, it's quite similar. We'll still be looking at a 3.7-inch 480 x 800 screen, Android overlaid with HTC's Sense UI and a 1GHz processor. However, HTC hasn't totally rested on its laurels.
The design and build of the handset is excellent, save for a slight Wi-Fi cutting-out issue. The camera is good quality, producing serviceable still and HD video that would be quite good if it weren't for a small stuttering issue.
Call quality was excellent, with voices coming through crisp and clear, and it's a shame how little we get to say that about handsets these days.
The browsing experience was generally strong, with the speed that web pages load still impressing us, and Flash is taking yet more steps forward in its 10.2 guise. It was still finicky at times, but when it did work, it was fairly smooth, which is more than we could say for many Flash 10.1 single-core phones.
However, the reason the Desire has kept up with everything that's come after is because it was so far ahead in the first place. The Desire S isn't. It's a great phone, and one we would wholeheartedly recommend in a vacuum.
The HTC Desire led the revolution, but the Desire S could be just another member of the rabble.
